Access

The venue is easily accessible from major train stations and airports.

  • The closest railway station to the conference venue, the Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel, is JR Katata Station. This station is approximately a 25-minute journey from JR Kyoto Station via the JR Kosei Line.
  • Please use a shuttle bus or a taxi from Katata Station to reach the conference venue.
  • On May 25, the number of buses operating between JR Katata Station and the conference venue will be increased. The departure times for the buses at JR Katata Station are as follows:
    15:15, 15:45, 16:15, 16:45, 17:15, and 17:45.
  • On May 30, bus transportation will be arranged from the hotel to JR Katata Station after the conference is closed.
  • Useful travel information can be found on the official website of JR-West (West Japan Railway Company). The Japan Route Finder & Planner, supported by NAVITIME JAPAN, is also useful. It provides information on departure and arrival times as well as the track numbers for boarding trains.
  • The GO app is a convenient option for calling a cab.

Conference Site

TRVS 2025 will be held at the Marriott Lake Biwa Hotel, located in the city of Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The hotel is a serene retreat near one of Japan's most beautiful landscapes. Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, is just minutes away, with views of the Hira Mountains on the other side. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the rugged mountain skyline and glistening lake surface. The hotel has several types of meeting rooms suitable for all TRVS activities.

The conference will be conducted in person only. The participants are supposed to stay in the same hotel to have as much time as possible to interact in a relaxed atmosphere. Provisional booking for the conference and accommodations has already been made.

Passport and Visa

All foreign visitors entering Japan must possess a valid passport. Participants from countries requiring a visa to enter Japan should obtain one from the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate ahead of time.

  • To issue an invitation letter, we need to confirm your registration and payment for the registration fee completion. (The invitation letter will be sent to you after your payment of the registration fee)
  • We can issue the invitation letter only to participants and the accompanying persons(accompanying persons should be family members only).
  • We can issue only an invitation letter just for the conference period. If you require visa documents, please inform us your registration number by email being indicated below.
  • After we confirm it, we will send you a visa application form file, and ask you to fill out the form and send it back to us with a copy of your face photo page of your passport.

Please be advised that the issuance of visa documents will be processed by Secretariat in the order in which the visa application forms are received, and kindly acknowledge that it will take approximately one week and a bit more excluding weekends to complete.
